YOUNG ADULTS GROUP

Announcing a new group within the Albany Chapter of ADK

The Albany Chapter of ADK is starting a new Young Adults group based on inquiries from our young members. The group will be for 21 to 35 year olds that have a common interest in outdoor activities available through ADK. Folks in this age bracket will enjoy getting together for hikes, paddling, bike rides, skiing and snowshoeing as designated in the Albany Chapter newsletter and website as “Young Adults 21-35."

We are happy to appoint a new Young Adults Chairperson to head up this activity who will organize and help plan the activities for our Chapter. The Chairperson will be Stephanie Graudons, who has volunteered and is very enthusiastic about starting the group. Stephanie is an Albany Chapter hike leader, a 46er, recently completed the Northville-Placid Trail and is currently working on the Fire Tower Challenge.

Anyone interested in participating in this new group, please download and fill out the ***attached questionnaire*** and e-mail it to Stephanie at sgraudons<at>hotmail<dot>com.

See the Activities/Outings page or below for upcoming Young Adults Group trips.

Jun 27 (Sun) KANE MOUNTAIN & 9 CORNER LAKE (C) – Young Adults Group
We will begin the day by climbing Kane Mountain.  This is an easy mountain, as it’s a pretty short hike.  There are a few options for which trail to take to the top and this will be decided at the trailhead.  Round trip the hike is only a mile or two, and there is a fire tower on the summit with views of the surrounding mountains and lakes.  After descending, we will drive a very short distance up the road and hike .9 mile to 9 Corner Lake.  This is a popular swimming destination in the summer, and might make a nice lunch spot.

July 10 (Sat) TENANT CREEK FALLS (C) - Young Adults Group
Weather permitting, we will hike along Tenant Creek near Northville to three separate waterfalls.  It is a half mile to the first waterfall, then about 1.5 miles to the other two.  The first waterfall is a great place to take a break and enjoy the scenery, and swimming is an option for those interested.  This is easy terrain, 4 miles round trip, heavy rain will cancel.
