LIGHT WEIGHT BACKPACKING - March 11, 2003 - presented by Gerry Magnes
Do you liken
backpacking to carrying a small box car on your back? Would you consider
doing more backpacking if you could lighten your load without compromising
comfort and safety? Over the past four years Gerry reduced the load he
carries on 4 day summer hikes from 45-50 pounds down to 25-27 pounds, and
he's still shaving more weight. In most cases it doesn't require high-tech
gear or cost a lot of money to reduce your pack weight. At this education
session Gerry described and demonstrated some of the changes he made in
what he carries and told us about websites and books that can offer a wealth
of ideas and proven techniques for you to try.
Gerry's Resource
and Weight Saving Strategies are outlined in the attachments below. They
are in Windows 2000 format.
